Description
What is that?
L.N. Mattei Cap Corse is a traditional liqueur wine based on high-quality mistelle and selected cinchona bark. The Quinquina spirit category is best compared to vermouth – both in terms of taste and production. The biggest difference is probably that the bitterness comes from quinine instead of wormwood.
An excellent liqueur wine is used to make L.N. Mattei Cap Corse Grande Réserve Quinquina. Unlike other aperitifs, this wine base is more strongly characterized by floral notes. Two grape varieties native to the Cap Corse region are used for the liqueur wine: Muscat and Vermentinu. The sweetness comes entirely from the grape must, which serves as the base for the Mistelle. Notes of citrus fruit are noticeable on the nose and palate. Cédrat, also known as citron, is an important component of Cap Mattei Blanc. The citrus note harmonizes perfectly with the bitter taste of quinine.
L.N. Mattei’s Quinquina is world-famous for its uniquely bitter yet sweet taste, which it achieves purely through the complex production process and the sweetness of the grape must, without the addition of sugar.
