Espresso Tonic
100 ml sparkling mineral water
20 ml pHenomenal Tonic Syrup
Pour into a glass over ice cubes
Slide 1 shot of espresso
onto the surface.
It is said that the drink was originally mixed in Oslo in 2007 by a barista colleague of Anne Lunell and Charles Nystrand. Later that year, the two founded Koppi Roasters in Helsingborg, Sweden, and put the coffee & tonic on the menu there.
The espresso tonic only arrived at phenomenal Drinks in 2017: when my friends from Quijote Kaffee called to tell me they had just filmed and photographed pHenomenal Tonic as an espresso tonic,
my reaction was “Huh? What’s wrong with you?”
Admittedly, on paper It sounds stupid at first, but it tastes great and takes you further than any energy drink. In terms of taste, the essential oils of the espresso crema blend harmoniously with those of the citrus fruits in pHenomenal Tonic.
Also a good non-alcoholic alternative for espresso martini lovers.
